Dr. Jeremy
P. Richards, P.
Geol. is Professor in Geology
at the University of Alberta in Edmonton Canada specializing
in Mineral Deposits. He received his
BA in geology from Cambridge University, UK (1983), an Msc.
from the University of Toronto, Canada (1986), and a PhD.
from the Australian National University (1990). After holding
a post-doctorate fellowship at the University of Saskatchewan
from 1990 to 1992, he was appointed lecturer at the University
of Leicester, UK, before leaving to join the University of
Alberta in 1997. His research interests and activities have
focused on the genesis of hydrothermal mineral deposits,
but with a broad perspective covering aspects as diverse
as regional tectonic and magmatic controls on mineralization,
volcanology, and detailed ore depositional mechanisms. He
has investigated the formation of various types of ore deposits,
including sediment-hosted, vein-type, and porphyry-type copper,
and mesothermal and epithermal gold mineralization. His current
research involves the study of regional controls on porphyry
copper and polymetallic epithermal mineralization in northern
Chile, Argentina, Iran, and Turkey. Jeremy has also consulted
to several mining companies on overseas properties. He is
a Councillor, Society of Economic Geologists(SEG) (2003–2006),
Member of the SEG Lindgren Award Committee and Councillor,
Geological Association of Canada 2002-2005. He is on the
editorial boards for several refereed journals in mineral
deposit geology. Jeremy will provide Telkwa with advice on
its gold and copper exploration.
